Stephane Bailliez is a self-taught amateur photographer who started into underwater photography and photography in general in an attempt to bring back memories from a post dot com sabbatical, backpacking and diving around the world for 12 months. This was back in 2003. Since then, he has had his travels and interests into photography gradually expanding and his spending skyrocketing.

He was fortunate enough to grow up during 15 years of his childhood in Africa (Chad, Cameroon, Burundi) which gives him a unique perspective and may also explain why he is more attracted toward tropical places. He has fond memories of this period, even though he had to learn way too early that life can be much too short.

He graduated as an aerospace engineer but went on to work into the software industry.
